You thought growth would feel like becoming. At first, it feels like breaking.
The old habits crack. The old stories do not fit. The person you were holds on while the person you are becoming tries to be born. It is uncomfortable, and it is exactly right.
Growth does not ask for your comfort. It asks for your courage.
Everyone wants the becoming. Few want the breaking that comes first. But you cannot become without breaking the shell that held the smaller you.
The breaking is not failure. It is the sound of expansion:
- You question what you once defended. That is not confusion. That is wider vision.
- You outgrow people and places you loved. That is not betrayal. That is evolution.
- You feel uncertain. That is not lost. That is the space where the new you is forming.
Do not rush to feel comfortable again. Stay in the break. Breathe there.
Ask: what is trying to be born in me that needs this discomfort to arrive?
You are not breaking. You are becoming. And becoming, for a while, feels just like breaking — until one morning you realize the shell is gone and you are already flying.
